ERS has been installing radon mitigation systems in southern Indiana for over 3 years and we are pleased to report that we remain one of a handful of contractors to never have failed a post-mitigation test.

Radon Measurement Existing Home Radon Mitigation
Radon Resistant New Construction Community Education on RadonRadon can be a problem in any home. There is no way to accurately judge if radon is a problem based on house size, condition, age, or even location. Houses within the same neighborhood can have greatly varied levels of radon. An individual radon test is the only way to know how your home is affected. Studies have demonstrated that prolonged exposure to higher levels of radon causes lung cancer in humans. The World Health Organization and the US Surgeon General urge citizens to have their homes tested to determine levels of radon exposure.
Environmental Risk Services performs radon tests using state of the art continuous radon monitors. These instruments record data hourly and, in addition to monitoring radon levels, track factors that may affect results. A trained and certified professional will set a monitor in your home according to EPA standards. At the end of the testing period, generally 48 hours, the monitor will be retrieved and brought back to our office for analysis. We will provide you with a report including the test results and recommendations on what to do next.
If your home has been tested for radon and the results exceed the EPA action level of 4.0 pCi/L mitigation will be recommended. Environmental Risk Services is trained in all available mitigation techniques. Our professionals will do a walk through of your home to evaluate its structure and layout. They will note any foundation cracks or other areas that may need to be sealed to discourage radon entry. Based on their findings, they will design a radon reduction system suited to your needs and conforming to EPA standards. Included with every ERS radon mitigation system are: post mitigation testing, a report indicating the new radon levels, a free radon test after one year and a 5 year warranty of the system.
If you are considering building a new home you may be interested in radon resistant new construction. Building a home with these techniques is a proactive way to protect your family from the risks of radon exposure. Using radon resistant construction methods is more cost effective and less invasive than installing radon systems in already built homes. The techniques are centered on reducing radon entry into the home and provide a passive ventilation system. If radon levels become a problem later in the life of your home, technicians can easily attach a specialized fan to activate the ventilation system in order to further reduce radon levels. There is a growing trend in states and individual counties enacting laws mandating that all new construction uses radon resistant design. Environmental Risk Services, LLC professionals are certified to work with construction companies on your behalf to incorporate radon resistant features into your new home. ERS is also happy to work with construction companies on both an individual home and subdivision basis. With the increased popularity of "green" homes, let us help you provide the top quality radon systems required for a home to be labeled "green."
